The best thing about using foods for skin whitening is that they can help in two ways. You can either apply the food directly to the skin, or eat it to get some of the same benefits.
This article will discuss a few of the best skin whitening foods that we’ve found.
Food #1: Milk
Milk is used in dozens of homemade remedies for skin brightening. Whether it’s raw, almond, goat, coconut, powdered, or any other kind- milk is a proven skin whitening agent.
Each type of milk has its advantages and disadvantages, but that’s not what we want to talk about. Instead, we want to just point out that you can combine milk with many other foods for homemade remedies. Or, you can choose to directly apply the milk to your face and allow it to dry. Either way works.
That said- we usually recommend either raw milk or goat milk. Goat milk is healthier than cow’s milk, and raw milk is good because it contains all of the vitamins and minerals that are normally destroyed through pasteurization.
Food #2: Almonds
As mentioned earlier, almond milk is a great ingredient in skin brightening products. But there are several other ways to use almonds as well.
For example, you can directly apply almond oil to your skin. This has proven effective for a lot of users, and it’s extremely simple to do.
You can also grind up almonds and combine the paste with things such as honey or milk. This makes a great face mask that removes blemishes and makes the skin lighter.
Just make sure that you don’t use flavoured or smoked almonds as they may irritate the skin.
Food #3: Honey
Most people don’t realize all of the healing properties of honey. Raw, organic honey is best, but any honey will do.
Honey is great because it’s one of the main foods with skin whitening properties that also tastes good. Everyone loves honey. So finding out that you can include it in your diet due to its healing and skin bleaching effects is a good thing for everyone.
If you don’t care to directly apply honey, you can always mix it with something like almonds, papaya or oatmeal. Also, many soaps use honey in them to heal the skin and kill bacteria.
Food #4: Papayas

The best way to use potatoes for skin whitening is to juice them while raw. Apply this juice to your face, and rinse off with warm water. Potato juice contains Vitamin C, which is the primary bleaching agent.
Food #6: Citrus Fruits
Citrus fruits- especially lemons and limes- are great foods for skin whitening. They are FULL of Vitamin C, which is generally accepted as the best vitamin for skin whitening.
There are several ways to use these fruits for skin whitening. The most common way is to apply pure, organic lemon juice directly to the face and rinse off after about 20 minutes.
Another common method is to mix the lemon or lime juice with something else, such as papaya, honey or ground almonds. This allows you to get a bigger variety of vitamins and minerals into the skin for whitening.
Another method is to let orange peels dry in the sun, and then grind them into a powder. Add milk to the powder, and apply this as your face mask each day.
There are quite a few more foods commonly used in skin-whitening procedures like Tomatoes, cucumbers, aloe Vera, oatmeal, bearberry, and more. While these methods are natural and do work- they aren’t as effective as what we generally recommend.
Skin brightening products such as pills and lotions tend to work better than just using foods. This is especially true if you have black skin, which is naturally more difficult to bleach.

To be more specific, let’s look at some of the best vitamins for making your skin whiter.
Vitamin C
This is generally accepted as the most powerful vitamin for skin whitening. The main reason is that it has proven effective at slowing down melanin production. The more melanin found in your skin, the darker the skin appears. So by reducing the amount of melanin, the skin will begin to appear lighter in colour.
Vitamin C has a few other health benefits as well. It has proven to have anti-inflammatory properties, as well as anti-oxidant properties. Vitamin C also helps your skin look suppler and maintain the primary support structure of skin, a compound called collagen.
The best way to get Vitamin C is through pills (supplements), or certain foods like citrus fruits, strawberries, and tomatoes.
Vitamin A

Vitamin B3 (Niacin)

1. Lemon/Lime Juice
Lemon and lime juice are natural skin bleaching agents, especially lemon juice. The acid in lemons and limes exfoliates the outermost layer of skin cells stripping away the excess colouring. There are several ways you can use these natural juices. Combine coconut or vitamin E oil with the juice of a lemon or lime and apply to the area you want to lighten twice per day. The juices can be drying so the oil will help the skin stay moisturized while the juice lightens it.
Another option is to add the juice to your favourite cleanser. Use circular motions when cleaning the skin and avoid the eye area. Be sure to use a good moisturizer afterwards. 2. Sugar Scrub

For the face, make a paste of milk and sugar and leave on for 15 minutes. Be sure to follow up with a moisturizing lotion.
5. Tomato Juice

The active ingredient in skin whitening injections is glutathione, which is a powerful antioxidant. It is so powerful, in fact, that it is used to combat a variety of diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and HIV. In the beauty industry, however, it is well-known for its skin whitening attributes. It acts much like hydroquinone in that it disrupts the production of melanin.
While glutathione is available in pill form, many people prefer to use injections because much of the antioxidant is lost during the digestive process when taken orally.
