There are surprisingly more factors in answering the question, What burns fat?, than you may think. I used to be under the impression that it was all about calories. I was told that about 3,500 calories equals one pound of fat. If you eat fewer calories than your body needs and factoring in calories burned in exercise you should lose a pound of fat when the calorie count reached 3,500. I’ve since learned that I was dead wrong.
One of the main problems with this is that our bodies know how to compensate. Your body can tell when you’re going on a crash diet. Let’s say your body needs 2,200 calories for a day, but you start a crash diet of 800 calories a day. Your body says, uh, oh, something is wrong her so I better compensate. Your body will adjust its calorie needs, often times in unhealthy ways. You will lose some fat, but you will also lose some important muscle and organ mass.
So what burns fat? In large part, of course, is a healthy metabolism. You need to eat the right kind of foods that will boost your metabolism like apples, broccoli, turkey, hot peppers, turkey, green tea and water.
Another important factor in boosting your metabolism is movement…….exercise. You don’t necessarily need heavy workout routines in order to lose weight. You just need to move. Get outside. Do something with your family or friends.
You can start by just walking a mile. Then if you have the time walks a mile in the morning and a mile in the afternoon or evening. When you get good at that, try walking just a little bit faster. If you can walk a mile in about 15-20 minutes that’s pretty good. When you’re a pro at that try to walk 2 miles. There are a few other things that factor in to what burns fat. They include stress, fluid retention, insulin levels, leptin resistance and inflammation, which is really important.
Many times, some of the foods we eat work against us in burning fat. Some foods cause our bodies to become inflamed which works against the fat burning process. Other foods cause leptin resistance which will confuse our bodies to stop telling us we’re full when we really are full, thus overeating.
So, again we ask, what burns fat? The best answer would be eating the right foods in the right amounts, exercising in a way that is good for your body, drinking lots of water and relaxing……stop stressing out. Find a good weight loss program and change your life today. Don’t wait until tomorrow. You’ll love yourself for it.
